    Band and Orchestra News
    Posted on 09/07/2016

    Dear Orca Parents and Guardians,

With time comes change, and this letter it to announce some changes to my schedule and my time at Orca. Beginning the fall of 2016, I will only teach the middle school bands. There will still be Elementary Instrumental Music (EIM) classes at Orca, but they will no longer be during PCP, and will be taught by another teacher (that is hired centrally by the central office). Again, please remember that EIM is an optional program and your student does not need to participate. The EIM classes will be a "pull-out" class and will happen during the school day once per week.

Orca will now be able to offer 4th and 5th grade band and ORCHESTRA. With the schedule change, both grade levels will be able to choose between band and orchestra instruments. The band will include, flutes, clarinets, trumpets, and trombones. The orchestra will include violins and cellos. Other instruments to be offered at the discretion of the new teacher.

I am sorry to write a letter with such news. I will greatly miss working with the soon to be 5th graders, and meeting the incoming 4th graders. I will be around, so there will be plenty of time to say, "hello."

    Sincerely,

    Casey Cheever
