    Below are some free events that are taking place in and around our neighborhoods.

    Brick Builders at Skyway Library
    Come to the Skyway Library (12601 76th Avenue S.) on October 8, 15, 22, 29, November 5, 12, and 26 from 3:45-4:45 to build with Legos® provided by the library. This drop in event is for grades K-5. Ages 5 and younger are welcome with an adult.

    See Spawning Salmon
    At several sits along the Cedar River near Renton, volunteer naturalists will be available on October 20, 21, 27 and 28 from 11am-4pm at Renton Library, Cedar River Park, Cavanaugh Pond, and Landsburg Park and Dam.     Author Reading
    Children’s Book author and Illustrator, Michaele Razi, will read from her new picture book, Frank and the Seven-Legged Spider at Third Place Books-Seward Park (5041 Wilson Avenue S.) on October 27 at 11am.

    Boo Bash at the Beach
    Stop by at the Rainier Beach Safeway Parking Lot (9262 Rainier Avenue S.) on October 31 between 4-7pm for a community event which includes trick or treating, music, games and crafts.

    Seattle MathFest 2018
    Families with children ages 3-11 are invited to attend the Zeno Seattle MathFest on November 8 from 5-7pm at the Rainier Community Center (4600 38th Avenue S.). At the event, families play various hands-on math games. To register, go to zenomath.org and select “Events”.

    Learn to Play Chess
    Seattle Police Detective, Denise “Cookie” Bouldin teaches kids age 7 to adult how to play chess at Detective Cookie’s Urban Youth Chess Club. Drop in on Tuesday’s from 3-5pm at the Rainier Beach Library Branch (9125 Rainier Avenue S.) or Saturday’s from 12-2pm at Rainier Beach Community Center (8825 Rainier Avenue S.).
