First B.A.S.E.

Orca’s onsite childcare program is First B.A.S.E. Enrichment and Pre-Kindergarten. Founded in 1992 by the parents and initially supported by the PTSA, First B.A.S.E. is a licensed program and also has a contract with the City of Seattle Comprehensive Childcare Program, which provides subsidies to parents needing help in paying for childcare. We offer guidance, incentives and materials for growth in a nurturing atmosphere. We focus on successful peer relations and peaceful conflict resolution, meeting the needs of children and their families.

First B.A.S.E. celebrates diversity and offers equal opportunity to all. The children can relax, make friends, do homework, relate with caring adults one-on-one and have fun! We serve breakfast and anafternoon snack (vegetarian.) We are open on most school holidays and vacations, including summer. First Base opens at 7 a.m. daily and closes at 6 p.m. daily. If space is available, First B.A.S.E. may be able toprovide care for children who are not enrolled on a regular basis (drop-in care.) We use room 106 for children in grades K-2 and room 311 for grades 3,4,5.
